How do you feel when you have to wake up early in the morning, when the air is most refreshing, to rush your way to work. You get up, brush your teeth, had a quick bath, realising that you do not have time for breakfast.
You make your way to the MRT station and squeeze into the tightly congested train, standing for 45mins on your way to work..
I experienced a repetition of this in my current phrase of life and finds myself getting sick quite often. It is certainly not a very healthy practice because even though you get regular exercise but you stayed up later in the night to make time for your own stuff and realised that you have enough sleep..
A lecturer friend of mine from NYP once told me this, "Asians seemed to have the habit of working hard throughout the time and when i took charge of Napha training, people will be saying that you are slacking from work... They do not take a healthy lifestyle as part of their living habit..."
And i find this very true because when i was in Beijing for my student exchange, i find that morning exercise is part of their school's curriculum and they practice a healthy lifestyle..
But in singapore, the only reason you wake up early is to catch a lecture in poly or have to rush to work. Everyday is a busyday...
And for once when you just get tired or work and took a 1 month holiday for a vacation, you realise that someone had taken over your job once you came back... Its a very competitive situation..
I wonder if these people sacrificed so much of their time on work, and thus neglecting family and friends, and wasting their youth, would they ever have a sense of regretfulness in the end? Or would they find contentment and happiness in their achievements in the long run?
Sometimes its so competitive at work that i feel that sometimes my friend is faster than me, and therefore i feel the pressure to buck up to catch up to him... or sometimes i am faster than him, and he starts to get the pressure...
Its a good way to improve each other... But i wonder how long can i last?
To me health is the most important aspect, and staying healthy means being self-responsible.. With such workload, its a challenge to stay healthy..
Good pay, stable job in KPMG, but also sacrifice....
